Science

1. After a bath, Timmy realises that his glass door is very misty and he could not see through it. Explain what causes the mist on his glass door.

Warm water from the bath evaporated into warm water vapour. The water vapour then condensed onto the cool surface of the glass door, causing the mist.

2. Timmy carried out an experiment to find out how different surfaces affect the bouncing height of a tennis ball when dropped from a same height. He used a plastic surface and a plasticine surface.

a) Which of the 2 surfaces will be the bouncing height be higher?

Plastic surface

b) Explain why the surface you have chosen in (a) cause the bouncing height to be higher.

A harder surface would not absorb as much of the impact of the ball as compared to a softer surface. Plastic is a harder surface and this allows the ball to be able to bounce of it higher as compared to plasticine which will absorb more of the impact.

c) Name one OTHER variable to be kept the same for the experiment to be a fair test.
